WebJan 23, 2006 · If you convert to OBD1 and use a manual Y8 intake manifold/IACV then yes. If you keep the Y7 ecu and don't do mini-me the only direct-replacement t/b is from the Y8 automatic. Silly to buy one though, you can just take the throttle rotor and spring from the LS t/b you have and put it on your Y7 t/b. Then it will be identical to the Y8 auto version. WebJun 21, 2024 · You can simply just bolt up a Y8 head to the Y7 block and be done. In fact, if just the Y8 block went bad, you can totally transfer and use the Y8 head on the Y7 block. The perk is that the Y7 & Y8 are both 1.6L blocks! Just not sure on the compression ratio differences off the top of my head.

Below are the specs on the individual motors. D16Y7 = 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC 96-00 Civic CX/DX/LX 106hp. D16Y8 = 1.6L SOHC VTEC 96-00 Civic EX 127hp. Now, from what I have read the D16y8 block is the same as the D16y7 block.
